AUBURN — Hannah Comfort of Winslow was named 2018’s distinguished Young Woman of Maine on Saturday at their state finals at the Community Little Theater.
Comfort, a senior at Waterville High School, was judged on scholarship, an interview, fitness, talent and self-expression. For the talent portion, Comfort sang and tap danced to “I Can Do That” from the musical “A Chorus Line. During the self-expression portion, she had to share what she would tell herself if she were a high school freshman.
“I would tell her to seek every opportunity,” she said. “Stay busy, focused and positive. Meet someone new everyday, try even more clubs. I would tell myself to be a leader and always be myself.”
Comfort will compete for scholarhips with 49 other young women at the national finals in Mobile, Alabama, on June 28 to 30.
