On Thursday there was organized in Auburn the Auburn Electrical company, which will do general electric business, specializing in all electric appliances and repairs for automobiles. This sort of work grows every year, and it is felt that this new company will have plenty to do. Fred H. Lancaster, the well-known Auburn attorney and court recorder, will be president of the new company, and Elmer W. Nickerson, city marshal and electrician, will be treasurer. Forrest Dawes and Thurl Wilson, both well-known electricians, with the two officers named, will form the board of directors.
50 years ago, 1968
Management of the Pioneer Plastics Corporation, one of Auburn’s newest and largest industrial plants, today announced plans to increase holiday pay and employee insurance and to give employees an additional paid holiday. James A. Ramsey, general manager of the sprawling plant, in a letter to employees, said that a review of company practices and a comparison with others in the area “have determined that increases are warranted.”

In addition to Lewiston High School in Lewiston, and Edward Little High School in Auburn, several area towns are planning to establish emergency shelters for people who lose electricity or safe living quarters during the weekend storm. In Monmouth, emergency officials will meet Saturday morning to discuss contingency plans in the face of the impending snowstorm.
