Garden Angels project first meeting

FARMINGTON — The Garden Angels project will hold its first meeting of the season at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at the Cooperative Extension Office.

The Garden Angel project was developed in 2012 to help provide sustainable food for people in need. It began with five recipients and has grown to 30. Prospective recipients fill out an application, which is reviewed by the committee to certify eligibility.

Volunteers provide support throughout the growing season. Some work directly with recipients and others deliver boxes, containers, soil, plants and seeds, then pick up the boxes and containers at the end of the season. Dave Fuller, Cooperative Extension, provides pest control and gardening question information.

Anyone who would like to be a volunteer is invited to attend the meeting. For more information, call 207-778-3156 or 207-778-4650.
