LISBON — Councilors on Tuesday night agreed to raise fees for recreational facilities and programs.
Rentals for the MTM Center gym at Lisbon Recreation were raised from $20 to $30 per hour for nonprofit use and from $40 to $60 per hour for commercial use.
“We haven’t made any changes for prices with commercial since 2004,” Recreation Director Mark Stevens said. It’s still within area market prices, he said.
Rentals for fields at the Pinewoods Road Sports Complex were increased from $100 per day for both fields to $150.
Lewiston and Auburn charge $200 for one field, Stevens said.
“It’s been more than five years since we changed (this fee),” he said.
Other increases include:
• $5 more for the Moxie 5K, from $20 to $25 for preregistration and from $25 to $30 for same-day registration;
• $50 more for the summer co-ed, slow-pitch league, from $450 to $500;
• $10 more for seventh- and eighth-grade football, from $75 to $85;
• $10 more for youth football, from $65 to $75; and
• $5 more for peewee football, from $65 to $70.
“It’s great that we have over 100 kids playing football,” Stevens said. “But it’s one of the programs that doesn’t make mark on breaking even. It is an expensive program to run.”
Fees were also added for art vendors during the 2018 Moxie Festival. A $50 application fee is due by May 14, but interested artists can submit an early application fee of $35 by April 14.
The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. April 10 at the Town Office to review proposed budgets for Parks and Recreation and the library for the coming fiscal year.
