American Legion members to meet
PARIS — Members of American Legion Post 72 will meet Wednesday, April 11.
There will be a supper starting at 6 p.m. followed by a meeting at 7 p.m. New members are welcome.

NEW SHARON — Jim Ditzler Memorial Library will host Bee a Reader! Story Hour from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursdays, April 12 and 26.

Eagles to host Texas Hold’em
RUMFORD — Fraternal Order of Eagles host Texas Hold’em poker tournaments on the second Thursday of each month.
Doors will open at 4 p.m. Games will start at 6 p.m. There will be a $50 buy-in with a $5 high hand as well as a 50/50 raffle. The kitchen will be open from 4 to 6 p.m.

Library program visiting Newfoundland
BRYANT POND — Doris Ray will present “Finding Newfoundland” to the Whitman Memorial Library.
Ray will give her audience a sense of adventure and yearning for exploration as she shares the Canadian province that is “as far away from Disneyland as you can get,” she says.
She will take you to “The Rock” to learn about its history, landscape and people. Those attending can “scoff up” Newfoundland goodies, pick up new words and take home information so they can plan their own trip to this magical place with its own time zone.
The program will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12. The program is open to the public at no charge.
‘Electrifying Otisfield’ to be meeting topic
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Historical Society’s first program for 2018 will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Community Hall. Following a brief business meeting and the annual election of officers, the meeting with focus on “Electrifying Otisfield,” a timely topic for those residents who recently experienced a loss of electricity.
Using a PowerPoint presentation, a panel of OHS members will explore the beginnings of electric power in the state and the introduction of electricity to town on Sept. 20, 1928, as recorded in the diaries of Eva Elliot and Arthur Bean and documents from the household of Annette Pottle.
Refreshments will be served after the meeting. All are welcome.
Franklin County Farm Bureau program
FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Farm Bureau and Maine Game Warden Rick LaFlamme will discuss landowner rights at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Farmington Municipal Building, 153 Farmington Falls Road.
Learn what the rights and responsibilities of a landowner are. Light refreshments will be served.
