Delaney Dill of Lewiston presents the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society on March 26 with the donations from her 7th birthday. Dill, a first-grade student at the Acadia Academy, asked for donations for the pets in lieu of birthday gifts. Party guests donated pet food, blankets, toys, timothy hay and cleaning supplies to help with the care of the thousands of unwanted animals the Humane Society helps each year. The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave. in Lewiston. Those interested in learning more about volunteering at the shelter or adopting an animal can call 207-783-2311 or visit www.SavingPetsInMaine.org or facebook/GAHumane. Dill is pictured with Bayley, a cat at the shelter who is seeking adoption.
