LEWISTON — Police are asking for information from the public related to a fatal hit and run in December 2017.

Louie J. St. Pierre, 48, of Lewiston was hit on Pleasant Street, near the intersection of Mitchell Street, about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 3, 2017.

Witnesses described the vehicle that left the scene as a white or light-colored SUV.

St. Pierre was taken to Central Maine Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Lewiston Police Lt. David St. Pierre, who is not related to the man who was killed, said a witness had stopped to check on the man and was talking to him when she heard a car coming.

“The witness tried to alert the car of his presence to no avail,” St. Pierre said. “The car hit him and continued on.”

An eyewitness said the vehicle that struck St. Pierre had come to a complete stop on top of him, then fled the scene, according to the accident report.

The area on Pleasant Street was not lighted and roads were dry.
