Hurry Down Sunshine, the guitar and singing duo of Brian Kavanaugh and Stan Davis, will perform at the gazebo in Turner, Tuesday, June 12, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Brownie McGhee sang: “Hurry down sunshine, see what tomorrow brings … it may be sunshine; then again it may be rain.” Its how the duo chose its name.
Kavanaughc and Davis will be playing jazz standards, the blues, love songs, and other songs about life. Brian’s singing, Stan’s storytelling, and their two guitars weave a tapestry of complex, ever-changing music. Their music combines deep, emotional vocals and improvised acoustic guitar melodies.
Like the guitarist Michael Hedges, their sentiments: “We play the guitar because it lets us dream out loud.”
Come share in a sweet evening of magical melodies and the intermingling of strings and harmonies, along with heart felt, funny and poignant stories by Stan. The hat is passed to contribute to the musicians. Suggested donation is $5. Bring a chair, bring a blanket.
