Turner resident receives scholarship
Chloe Veilleux of Turner is the recipient of a scholarship from Hannaford Charitable Foundation, which are awarded each year to outstanding students who intend to enroll at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school.
Chloe is the child of Kimberly Marschall and is graduating from Leavitt Area High School. She plans to attend University of Vermont.
Church announces new minister
TURNER — The First Universalist Church of Turner Center has announced that the Rev. Al Boyce is serving as new minister.
Boyce attended Harvard Divinity School and then became a Unitarian Universalist parish minister. He also holds a master’s degree in psychology and counseling and PhD in psychology.
Boyce serves as chaplain for Androscoggin Healthcare and Hospice and is also a member of the American Red Cross Clergy Crisis Response Team.
Economic forum at Meetinghouse
NEW GLOUCESTER — New Gloucester’s Economic Development Committee invites the public to a Creative Economy forum at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, at the New Gloucester Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road.
The creative economy is an engine of growth and community vitality. Together, artists, cultural nonprofits and creative businesses produce goods and services that generate jobs, revenue and quality of life.

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Rotary meets at 7 a.m. Thursdays in the Olsen Student Center at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Daughters of Union Veterans meet
STONEHAM — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, Hannah F. Richardson Tent No. 19, met at the home of Carlene Gavin on Norway Lake on May 24. A memorial ceremony was held for deceased members.
There will be no meeting in June due to the convention on Saturday, June 23, in Waterville. Tent No. 19 will meet again on Thursday, July 26, location to be announced.
Nickel Bingo at Dixfield Legion
DIXFIELD — Dixfield American Legion, 8 River Lane, will be having Nickel Bingo from 6 to 9 p.m. every Monday and Friday. Doors open at 4 p.m.
WMBC plans vacation Bible school
NEW PORTLAND — Vacation Bible school will be held at the Western Mountains Baptist Church, 928 Carrabassett Road, from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday to Friday, June 25 to 29.
All children 4 years of age and older are welcome to join in on a week of play, fun, singing and games.
This year’s theme is “Game On.” There will be a pep rally where kids can jump and sing, as well as a Bible field house. Kids will have the opportunity to take part in crafts, missions, music, recreation and snacks.

Youth Mental Health First Aid courses
NAMI Western Mountains will host Youth Mental Health First Aid courses in Fryeburg on Monday, June 25, and in Wilton on Thursday, June 28. The courses are designed for anyone who works, lives or interacts with youth.
