Robin Dow Seniors to meet
AUBURN — Robin Dow Senior Citizens met Wednesday, May 23, for a meeting and memorial service with 32 members present.
Winners of attendance were Leigh Whittle and Diane Vincent; red tickets, Carmela Hewitt, Callie Adams and Bea Brooks; white, Lucy Cowles, Dolores Danforth and Bruce Macomber; and blue, Norma Bouthot, Sally Gagnon and Carmela Hewitt.
A regular meeting will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 13. Those attending should bring a lunch. A bingo game is planned.

Knitting Knights to convene
LEWISTON — Lewiston Pubic Library will host the Knitting Knights from 5 to 6:30 p.m. every other Wednesday in the Jeanne Couture Room.
All ages and skill levels are welcome, and no registration is required. Library staff will be available to teach new knitters and welcome experienced knitters to share their knowledge and skills. Bottled water and hot tea will be provided, and some supplies will be available for beginners.
Gannett journalism scholarships awarded
ELLSWORTH — The Guy P. Gannett Journalism Scholarship Fund of the Maine Community Foundation has awarded $193,000 in scholarships to seven students, all graduates of Maine high schools. Students receive financial support for graduate and undergraduate studies at schools across the U.S.
The 2018 Gannett Scholars include Kristen Waite of Turner and Jill Baker of Freeport.
A volunteer review committee selected the students based on demonstrated interest in journalism, excellence in academic performance and financial need. Applications for the 2019 Guy P. Gannett Journalism Scholarship will be available in January. Information and a link to the online application can be found at www.mainecf.org.
Corvette Club plans cruise ride
LEWISTON – The Mid Maine Vettes Corvette Club will hold a cruise ride and dinner Saturday, June 16. The club will meet at a Lewiston location and ride to the Taste of Maine restaurant in Woolwich.

Lifetree Cafe program
LEWISTON — The impact of fatherless homes will be examined at Lifetree Cafe at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 17.
Forty percent of American children sleep in a home where their fathers don’t live. “FatherLess: Getting Past the Pain of an Absent or Abusive Dad,” features a filmed interview with author Donald Miller, who describes growing up without a father and his attempts to reconnect with his father later in life.
Lifetree participants will have a chance to share how their relationship with their father has impacted their lives.
Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Lifetree Cafe is at South Lewiston Baptist Church, 1919 Lisbon Road.

Pickwick Club to discuss Dickens book
AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s mainly Dickens reading and discussion group, will meet from 10 a.m. to noon (summer hours) Saturday, June 23, at the Auburn Public Library.
The novel to be discussed is Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations,” chapters 1 through 29. Moderators will be Sherrie Baker and Debbie Bliss.
