Summer program at Ludden library

DIXFIELD — Ludden Memorial Library is announcing the start of their Summer Reading Program. The program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with prize drawings, Reading Club and events taking place each week. Activities will include arts and crafts, science, live animals and more.

Christian Women United luncheon

PARIS — The Christian Women United luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at the South Paris First Congregational Church, 17 E. Main St. 

The Rev. Chaz Reed of Bridgton will be guest speaker. His wife, Kari, and daughters Hannah, Katherine and Juliana will be guest singers.  Dot Hager from Lovell will be guest pianist.

Legion to hold jamboree

DIXFIELD — The next public supper and jamboree will take place Saturday, June 23, at the Dixfield American Legion, 8 River Lane.

Supper will start at 4:30 p.m. and will cost $7; music and dancing will be from 6 to 9 p.m. For the night’s menu, call the Legion at 207-562-8030. Attendees can bring their own beverages.

Fish & Game Youth Field Day 

PARIS — Norway-Paris Fish & Game will host a Youth Field Day on Saturday, June 23, on the Buckfield Road. Check-in will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. 

Safety instruction will be given at all activities. Activites offered will include basic map and compass with tree identification, archery, rifle, wilderness first aid, soft air rifle and trap shooting for ages 10 and older.

An adult must accompany the child to the event. There will be a free hot dog lunch. For more information, contact Cindy Ouellette at 207-485-6347.

Brown Bag Garden Chat
 
WATERFORD — The Waterford Library, 663 Waterford Road, will host a Brown Bag Garden Chat from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 23. The speaker will be ZiZi Vlaun from Window Dressers. She will explain the program, founded in Rockland, that brings volunteers together to produce low-cost insulating window inserts.
 
These new interior-mounted storm windows help improve the warmth and comfort of homes, lower heating costs, and reduce CO2 emissions.  Window Dressers supplies, trains and supports teams of community volunteers as they build these affordable window inserts for their neighbors.
 
Participants should bring their own lunch; the library will provide drinks and dessert. All are welcome.

Family-friendly community contra dance

OTISFIELD — A community contra dance will be held at the Otisfield Community Center, 121 State Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 24. Music will be provided by Don Roy with the Arnotts. Caller is John McIntire.

All are welcome, including new and experienced dancers, singles, couples, groups and families.

Kite-flying group planning fly 

NORWAY — Color the Sky, Kite Fly!, a kity-flying group, will hold monthly outings on selected weekends in Norway and surrounding towns, dates to depend on the wind and weather. Time of kite-flying sessions will be from 1 to 4 p.m., meeting at area locations. The outings are free and open to all.
