Thursday’s rain has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flash flood warning for Franklin, Oxford and Somerset counties in Maine.
Showers and thunderstorms may produce flash flooding as well as minor river flooding on the streams and rivers in the area, according to the NWS.
The NWS warning affects — but is not limited to — the towns of Andover, Byron,
Middle Dam, Roxbury, South Arm, Oquossoc, Rangeley, Avon, Kingfield, Phillips, New Portland, Bethel, Bryant Pond, Newry, Rumford, Norway, Fryeburg, Oxford, Farmington, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Temple, Wilton, Chesterville and Jay.
A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding, according to the NWS.
Steady and at times heavy rain continues to move through the region. Keep the umbrella handy! Slight chance for some thunderstorms as well, but not expecting anything to become severe. #WeatherAuthority @WGME pic.twitter.com/kIlQZ8avaN
