The State Street Traditional Jazz Band is bringing its authentic Preservation Hall jazz to the Bell Hill Meetinghouse in Otisfield starting at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19; doors open at 6. The public is invited to an evening of relaxed but vibrant jazz, with its origins in New Orleans in the 1920s. They play musical tempos where improvisation reigns, held together by an almost hypnotic, relaxed beat and a strong warm melody. The ensemble includes clarinetists Barry Daniel and Pete Collins, raised in Maine, pianist Doug Protsik, banjoist and vocalist Peter Dunphy and vocalist Bill Rayne. Intermission will feature lemonade and cookies from Hungry Hollow.
