Baby Olympics in Kennedy Park
LEWISTON — The Hope House will host the 2018 Baby Olympics from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, in Kennedy Park.
The event will feature area children, ages 3 months to 5 years, taking part in events like the Gerber Baby Smile Contest, Huggies Baby Derby and the Children’s Chariot Race.
There will be special prizes for the 10 event winners, and treats and medals for all the athletes. Registration can be made at the park on Aug. 15.

Androscoggin Democrats special meeting
LEWISTON — There will be a special meeting of the Androscoggin County Democratic Committee at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at the Democratic Coordinated Campaign Office, 124 Lisbon St.
The sole purpose of the meeting will be to elect the Democratic candidate for County Commissioner, District 6 (Poland, Mechanic Falls and part of Auburn). This candidate will compete in the November election to fill a vacancy caused by the previous Commissioner’s resignation.
All are welcome to attend this meeting. However, only current ACDC members are eligible to vote.
This is a special meeting and does not replace the regular monthly meeting that will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the same location.

LACF accepting grant requests
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation is now accepting grant request applications for the current 2018 fiscal year.
For close to 40 years, the foundation has awarded grants annually to individuals and organizations whose programs directly benefit children in the Lewiston-Auburn community.
Previous grant recipients include Pine Tree Society, Books for Barber Shops Project, Tammy Caron’s second grade classroom at Governor James B. Longley Elementary School and Museum L-A Kids as Curators program.
Submit the application by Oct. 19 to the Lewiston Auburn Children’s Foundation, P.O. Box 7155, Lewiston, ME 04243-7155.

Sabattus Seniors meeting Aug. 30
SABATTUS — The Sabattus Seniors will be meeting early for the September meeting. It will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at the Maxwell Gill Hall.
The spaghetti meal will cost $6.
The 50/50 winner for July was Colombe Lavalliere and the pot of gold winner was Shirley St. Cyr.
