Drumming group making a beat 

LEWISTON — The Hand Drumming Group plays from 1 to 3 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month, at Trinity Church, 247 Bates St.

All levels and styles of drummers can play, and they can bring their own instrument or try one of the club’s drums. The cost to play is by donation.

Art Club to visit museum

AUBURN — The Auburn Art Club will meet at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the Park Avenue Methodist Church in order to carpool for a visit to the Bates College Museum of Art, at the Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell St. There will be no business meeting.

The exhibition will feature a wide variety of paintings, drawings, prints and sculptures by Maine artist, Dahlov Ipcar. Many of the works in Blue Moons & Menageries Exhibit will be shown publicly for the first time.

Ipcar wrote and illustrated many children’s books. She maintained a steady studio practice, producing paintings, sculptures, and prints that have been widely collected in public and private collections.

Sept. 11 to be remembered

AUBURN — A 9/11 National Day of Remembrance will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Auburn Fire Department, Central Fire, 550 Minot Ave. The public is welcome.

There will also be an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m.

Lakeside Chapter, OES, to meet

WALES — Lakeside Chapter No. 60, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold its Stated Meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Grange-Masonic Hall, 322 Centre Road.

Lakeside Chapter will honor its Past Matrons and Past Patrons. Light refreshments will be shared after the meeting.

Lakeside will be taking part in two other ESTARL suppers. The first at Pine Cone No. 26, in Auburn at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, and Lakeside members will take salads. The second at will be at Pioneer No. 11 in Lisbon Falls at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, where members will take desserts.

IHM Gold Age Club to meet

AUBURN — The Immaculate Heart of Mary Golden Age Club for adults ages 50 and older will meet Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Sacred Heart Church.

The social hour will be from 11 a.m. to noon. Lunch will be served at noon. After lunch, a short business meeting will be followed by a game. Lunch will be fried chicken and cost up to $5.

Reservations and payment must be made by Sunday, Sept. 9, by calling 207-212-4656 for reservations by Sept. 9.

New members and guests are welcome to attend.

Sodality to install officers, counselors

LEWISTON — The Ladies of St. Anne Sodality of Holy Family, Prince of Peace Parish will hold its membership meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Parish Hall, 607 Sabattus St.

Installation of officers and counselors will take place, along with introductions of the honorary members.

A chicken pot pie dinner will be served. Tickets are $1 and must be purchased by Sept. 10 by contacting Anita at 207-782-4516 or any board member. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
