HARTFORD – Thomas Alan Gauthier, 76, a resident of Hartford, passed away, Wednesday evening, Dec. 19, 2018, at his residence. He was born Sept. 9, 1942, in Waterbury Conn., the son of Noe and Freida (Gokey) Gauthier. He was a 1960 graduate from Woodbury High School. He received his teaching degree from the University of Southern Maine. On Oct. 28, 1961, in San Diego, Calif., he married Darlene Hahn. Thomas proudly served in the United States Navy from 1960-1983. He was a teacher at Mountain Valley High School and retired in 2008. He was a communicant at St. Rose of Lima Church, in Jay, a member of the MTA, NTA, Knights of Columbus, in Jay, VFW Post 1641, in Rumford, and the Norway Fish and Game Club. Tom loved reading sacred scripture and sharing that and his faith with RCIA classes at St. Rose. He enjoyed target shooting, fishing, taking photographs and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Darlene Gauthier; his daughters, Renée Gauthier, of Naples, Fla. and Andrea Damon and her husband, Andy, of Norway; six grandchildren; and his brother, Larry Gauthier.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brothers, Wilfred and Raymond Gauthier.
He will be greatly missed.
A mass of Christian burial will be held, 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church Street, Jay. Interment with full military honors will be held in the spring at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls. Arrangements made by Finley Funeral Home, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls.
