LEWISTON – Police tracked down a suspect in the woods off Pond Road early Saturday after a vehicle was reported to have crashed into a house around midnight.

Police used a tracking dog to zero in on the suspect who was last seen running into the woods near the powerlines after crashing the car near Cherrywood Drive.

The extent of the man’s injuries were not immediately known, although officers at the scene reported finding blood in the area where he had run into the woods.

No other injuries were reported.

Police converged on the scene after the crash was reported, setting up a perimeter along Pond Road and side streets as they closed in on the suspect.

The officers found the suspect along the powerlines at about 1:30 a.m. and called for a paramedic to examine his injuries.
