AUBURN – Madeline T. Bissonette, 92, formerly of Baxter Avenue, Auburn, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, in Auburn.

She was born in Auburn on March 12, 1926, to Joseph and Rose Anna Grenier Rousseau. Educated in Auburn schools, she was a graduate of Edward Little High School, class of ’44.

On April 12, 1947, Madeline married the love of her life, Roland Bissonette. After retirement, Madeline and Roland enjoyed many years wintering in Florida where they made many wonderful friends. Mr. Bissonette passed away on March 15, 2014.

Prior to her retirement, Madeline worked as a payroll clerk for several local shoe shops. Madeline loved dancing, especially jitter bugging in her youth, and line dancing in her retirement. She enjoyed gardening. Her flower gardens of irises, lilies, dahlias, and lupines were a highlight of the neighborhood. She was an avid follower of the Boston Bruins, often choosing to stay home to watch a game rather than go out with her friends. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and was an unending source of unconditional love.

A life-long parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, she is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Halliday and wife, Gretchen Wetzel, of Cumberland Foreside, Pamela and husband, Marcel Larose, of Auburn, Torey and husband, Daniel Murphy, of Poland Spring, Melissa and husband, Chuck Dwinell, of Auburn, and two sons, Geary and wife, Louise, of Auburn, Bryant, of Auburn; fourteen grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Marc, in 2008; a grandson, Robbie Bissonette, in 2011; a sister, Lorraine Beaulieu, and two brothers, Ernest Cote and Gerard Rousseau.

Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, 253 Pine St., Lewiston, on Tuesday, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Services will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Interment, Gracelawn Memorial Park, Auburn.
