CASCO — The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says two people were injured Friday morning after a crash.
It happened on Route 302 around 5:20 a.m.
Deputies say the driver of a Chevrolet Cruze crossed the centerline and struck a Subaru Legacy head-on.
“The impact was violent and entrapped the single occupants in both vehicles. The engine block of the Chevrolet Cruze dislodged from the vehicle and caught fire on the roadway,” Captain Scott Stewart with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
Deputies say both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles.
The driver of the Subaru Legacy, 47-year-old Leonard Grover, was taken by Life Flight to Central Maine Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet Cruze, 34-year-old Alana Eidemiller, was also taken by Life Flight to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to deputies.
The crash investigation is ongoing.
