MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will hold its first ever photo contest. The theme is “Mechanic Falls – It is here, now and everywhere.”
Photographs submitted must have been taken of Mechanic Falls and the contest open to residents as well as non-residents. They are seeking amateurs, semi-professionals or people who are real good at taking photographs – but you can be a professional as well.
Location where photograph was taken in Mechanic Falls must accompany each entry or entry will be disallowed. Entries could have been taken 50 years ago or just yesterday.
Photographs entered must be as an 8-by-10- or 11-by-14-sized print and must be matted. They may also be framed. Persons participating can enter up to three photographs. Only one photograph entry can win. They can be entered in either color or black-and-white.
There will be two divisions: Adults ages 16 and up; youth age 15 or younger. There will be a first, second, and third place winner in each division, and there will be one Best of Show winner. All winners will receive prizes; prizes are yet to be determined.
The society plans to exhibit all photographs entered during Mechanic Falls Community Day in June. Entries can be submitted from Feb. 1-May 1.
They can be mailed to the Mechanic Falls Town Office, 108 Lewiston St., Mechanic Falls, ME 04256. If mailing, label envelope with Photograph Contest.
Each entry must include: name; address, phone number; email; date photograph taken, optional; labeled as either adult or youth entry; and the location of the photo.
If a person (or persons) is in the photograph, please include a signed Photograph Release Form from the subject giving you permission to use their image. For children under 18, please have a parent or guardian sign it.
They will also request a signed release form from each winning contestant giving the society and the town permission to use their photo for publicity purposes only.
