LEWISTON – A parked vehicle in the area of Green Street was struck by bullets shortly before 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Lt. David St. Pierre said Thursday that police had received reports of gunshots in the area.

Police said there were no arrests and no one had been injured as of late Thursday afternoon.

“This does not appear to be a random act,” St. Pierre said. “It appears to be an isolated incident.”

Police were dispatched to the corner of Green Street and East Avenue after dispatchers received several reports of hearing shots fired.

An investigation is ongoing, St. Pierre said.

Police gathered evidence in the street in front of a pair of apartment houses in the area. Investigators strung crime scene tape to block off a section of Green Street, which runs between East and Sylvan avenues.

The building at the corner of Green Street and East Avenue was the scene of a drive-by shooting in March 2017. In that shooting, a gunman in a car fired several rounds into the second floor of the brown, three-story apartment building at 22 Green St.

Detectives continue to investigate and are seeking information from anyone that may have knowledge of who may be responsible. The public is urged to contact Detective Joey Brown at 207-513-3001, ext. 3322 or call dispatch at 207-784-6421.
