Kevin Simpson of Auburn stands on the edge of Dufresne Park in downtown Lewiston on Tuesday afternoon as part of Resist Central Maine’s Honk for Impeachment protest. The 83-year-old Simpson grew up in Lewiston and has a lifelong resistance to racism, which he identifies as a driving motivation to his participation in the weekly protests. While going to college, he lived in a predominantly black neighborhood in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and had close friends who were African American, he said. He recalled that in 1965, in Roxbury, his wife marched with Dr. Martin Luther King. Andree Kehn/Sun Journal Buy this Photo
