Christopher King, a Gulf War-era U.S. Navy veteran, walks his dog, Dog (pronounced dee-OH-gee), across the Simard-Payne Memorial Park pedestrian bridge in Lewiston on his way to volunteer Thursday afternoon at Hope Haven Gospel Mission. King, 50, says he has been working to get sober and put his life back on track. He says he has a history of using hard drugs but does not plan to use them again.
