The Dixfield Historical Society recently received a treasure from Susan Keith of Waretown, New Jersey. Keith purchased the Dixfield Common Post Office front at an auction in 1988 in Gray. She recently downsized her collections and returned the front t the town of Dixfield through the Dixfield Historical Society. The first post office on the Common burned in 1888 and moved to the Peter Holman homestead at that time, where this front was housed. There are 32 numbered boxes and a letter drop on the front and 24 faint but legible names on the back. Submitted photo
