BUCKFIELD — Crews from several towns battled a wildfire Saturday morning after flames were reported in the woods in the area of Conejo Lane, off East Hebron Road.

The fire was reported contained about 6 a.m.

Firefighters went to the area, a short distance from the intersection at Bryant Road, at about 11 p.m. Friday. Soon after, Oxford firefighters were calling for help from other towns, including Minot, Hebron and Turner, as flames were said to be blowing to the north.

About 2.5 acres were burned in a fire. There are several homes in the area, though it was not immediately known if flames threatened any of them.

Close to midnight, more calls went out for additional manpower. By 2 a.m., fire crews were still at the scene.
