AUBURN — A state police cruiser was struck by a car Monday morning as the trooper was headed toward a hostage situation in Livermore Falls, state police spokeswoman Katharine England said.

The trooper was driving on Main Street with lights and siren on about 7 a.m. when the cruiser was struck by a vehicle driven by Linette Grenier, 53, of Mechanic Falls.
