In the classic comedy, “Weekend at Bernie’s,” Bernie dies at the start of the movie, yet Bernie’s friends refused to tell anyone about it. The party continues throughout the rest of the movie.

Would someone please tell the blind devotees of a fallen oligarch their hero is dead? Stop propping up the deposed king and making us believe that there is life after death. The Republicans’ favorite son is poised on the edge of a cliff. Directing all his devoted minions to go ahead and jump, like a bunch of mindless lemmings, succumbing to their need to migrate.

The soul of the American Republican is lost to the cult of personality. Nothing good can come from an effort to resurrect a deposed king. Bernie is irrelevant.
