A view from the Lewiston side of the site of the construction of the third bridge spanning the Androscoggin River between Auburn and Lewiston shows work is moving ahead. On Boxer Island a crane can be seen sitting on a filled area, engaged in excavation work for number three pier that will be set about 60 feet from the island’s shore toward Lewiston. On the hill of the island are the pre-built forms for the pier which will be set in place later. Steel work on the Auburn end of the bridge is expected to start next month, A view, taken close to an abutment on the Lewiston side, gives a view all the way across the river to the approach excavation work which has been done on the Auburn side of the river.
