The woman who lives there was shaken, but not hurt. She said she felt nauseous after the crash. She said it is not uncommon for cars to travel up that section of Pleasant Street at high speed.

“I’ve been waiting for this to happen for 20 years,” she said.

It appeared the driver had been traveling on Pleasant Street, toward the downtown, when the car skidded across the front yard, leaving deep gouges in the lawn in front of the house.

Police blocked off a section of Pleasant Street, between Scribner Boulevard and Avalon Street, while they began and investigation and cleanup got underway.

The car was towed. Fire officials said a set of stairs was demolished, but there was no significant structural damage to the house.
