Jeanie Twaddle Deletetsky
AUBURN – Jeanie Twaddle Deletetsky, 67, of Auburn, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Aug. 14, 2021, at Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, following a brief illness.
She was born in Lewiston on March 30, 1954, to Gard and Louise Twaddle. In 1972, she graduated from Edward Little High School in Auburn and went on to complete her LPN from CMVTI School of Practical Nursing in 1978. She married Philip Deletetsky of Auburn on Feb. 18, 1978, at Beth Abraham Synagogue.
Jeanie was the ultimate caregiver and friend. Her warm and welcoming personality made it clear she was born to be a nurse. Jeanie spent most of her 42-year nursing career at Montello Manor Nursing Home, with time spent working at Russell Park Manor, Clover Manor and Bolster Heights. Her advice and guidance was sought on a regular basis; she always made time to listen with a willing ear and open heart, and took pride in teaching the next generation of nurses.
Jeanie was a gifted storyteller; she loved sharing stories of her youth, especially time spent with friends and family on Long Lake in Naples. Jeanie was known for her easy and outgoing personality who never met a stranger. She had a gift of befriending all people, and loved them fiercely and without judgement.
Jeanie will be remembered as a wonder in the kitchen, where she learned to cook traditional Jewish dishes from her mother-in-law including brisket, latkes, blintzes, and her famous chicken soup and matzo balls. She dutifully passed along these cherished family recipes to her grandson, Zane, where they enjoyed each other’s laughter and company in the kitchen. Her love of jewelry was passed down to her granddaughter Eden; she always had a bauble in hand for visits. She will be lovingly missed but never forgotten by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Philip Deletetsky; her son, Gard Deletetsky and wife Deneka of Auburn; two grandchildren, Zane and Eden; brother-in-law, Bruce Deletetsky of Rhode Island; nephews, Jason Deletetsky and wife Stephanie of Rhode Island; Adam Deletetsky and wife Avery of Massachusetts; great nieces, Addison and Blake; great nephew, Andrew; and several dear friends and special cousins.
She is predeceased by her father, Gard Twaddle and his wife Jeanne; her mother. Louise Twaddle; her in-laws, Abe and Sarah Deletetsky; and her brother-in-law’s partner, Wanda Hammock.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Central Maine Medical Center M4 and Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for their wonderful care of not only our beloved Jeanie, but also the support provided to the family during this most difficult time.
Visitation will be held at the Albert & Burpee Funeral Home, on Sunday, August 22, from 1 PM to 3 PM with a service following at 3 p.m. Condolences, donations, and a video tribute may be found online at http://www.albert-burpee.com .
