AUGUSTA — The 32nd Annual Rockhounders Gem and Mineral Show, is September 4 and 5, sponsored by Kennebec Rocks and Minerals Club. This show will be held at the National Guard Armory on Western Avenue in Augusta from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4 and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.

There will be door prizes and a daily grand door prize, demonstrations in cabbing and lapidary, mineral displays, dealers in minerals, jewelry, gems and fossils, geode slicing, mineral mine, and other games for kids. Children can win a mineral starter kit and get a free stone just for coming in. There will be information on rockhounding and how to join a mineral club. Dealers and those who want more information may call 207-873-6270.

OXFORD — Boy Scout Troop 130 will be holding a Yard Sale, Food Sale and Bottle Drive on Saturday, September 4 at Aaron’s. The yard sale will be held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and bottles may be dropped off at any time during the yard sale. Burgers and hot dogs will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be a table of raffle items. Yard sale items will include toys, puzzles, candles, homemade items, pictures, and various other items. The rain date will be September 11. Aaron’s is located at 1290 Main Street, Oxford. These events will help support Boy Scout Troop 130 in South Paris.

WEST PARIS — The Society is having its first meeting in two years with an Open House, including the museum, on September 20 from 6-8 p.m. Refreshments and cold drinks will be served. There will be a short business meeting at 8 p.m. This Open House is for anyone interested in our history or who just wants to look around. PARIS — On September 16, Dennis Creaser will give some history about Roy Wilhelm. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM and be held at the Paris Cape Historical Society Museum on High Street, South Paris. After a brief business meeting, Dennis Creaser of Creaser’s Jewelers in South Paris will give some interesting facts about Roy Wilhelm. He will focus on several interesting things that might not be known about him.

Roy Wilhelm was a coffee importer who settled in Stoneham. He moved there in about 1938. He owned a mine which is now lost, and produced aquamarine. There are a number of facts about Roy Wilhelm that the public will find very interesting.

After the meeting refreshments will be served, and you will have an opportunity to ask questions. There is parking at the rear of the museum. The public is welcome.
