DIXFIELD — Fire and rescue crews were at 22 Main St. Wednesday afternoon for a reported house fire.

Dixfield firefighters were joined by crews from Rumford and Mexico and Med-Care Ambulance was called after smoke was reported coming from the home at about 5 p.m.

A section of Main Street, which is U.S. Route 2, was closed to traffic as emergency crews responded. Central Maine Power was called to cut service to the home that was burning.

According to online sources, the home at 22 Main St. is a two-and-a-half-story house with trees on all sides.
