Maurice “Moe” L. Duguay

WEATON, Ill. – Maurice “Moe” L. Duguay, 89, formerly of Jay, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at Wynscape Health and Rehabilitation Home in Wheaton, Ill., where he had been a resident since May of 2019.

He was born in Chisholm on Tuesday, March 15, 1932, the son of Valmore and Rose (Groleau) Duguay. He graduated from Jay High School in 1950 and proudly served his country in the USAF during the Korean conflict from 1951 until 1954, having earned Korean, National Defense and United Nations Service Medals.

On June 10, 1957, he married the love of his life, Irene Lapointe of Chisholm at St. Rose of Lima Church. They made their home on Church Street and later on Highland Drive in Jay. Moe was a papermaker, having completed 42 years of dedicated service with International Paper Company at both the Otis and Androscoggin mills in Jay. An active member of St. Rose parish and choir, he with Irene taught CCD to high school students, was active in Marriage Encounter and in the local Boy Scouting program.

Moe was a loving and devoted husband and father throughout his life and was a strong source of comfort and support to Irene during her long illness prior to her death.

Survivors include three sons, Scot (Linda) of Fitchburg, Mass., and Robert (Melissa) and John (Kathryn) all of Wheaton, Ill.; three sisters, Lauri Ann Doiron of Auburn, Pauline Dumais of Lewiston and Bernice (Norman) Bilodeau of Livermore Falls and Florida, one brother, Edmund (Pauline) of Livermore and Florida; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Irene, who died June 14, 1987; two brothers, Elie and Guy and three sisters, Vivian Rea, Annette Finley and Loretta Desjardins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 13, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church St., Livermore Falls. Interment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park St., Livermore Falls.
