PARIS — The Oxford County Commission accepted the resignation of Deputy Derek MacDonald at Thursday morning’s meeting.

MacDonald is joining the Mexico Police Department as a lieutenant. Commissioners wished him well.

To fill the vacancy in the Sheriff’s Office, the board hired Robert Nevada of Rumford as a full-time patrol deputy at an hourly rate of $21.68.

Commissioners also met twice in executive session to discuss wages for specific employees.

Commissioners Timothy Turner of Buckfield, Steven Merrill of Norway and David Duguay of Byron also took their yearly road tour through the county’s unorganized territories. Accompanying them were Road Agent Todd Sawyer and Unorganized Territory Supervisor Tony Carter.
