
Edward “Butch” L. Carey Sr.
MEXICO – Edward “Butch” L. Carey Sr., 76, of Mexico, Maine passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021. Edward was born Nov. 13, 1944 to the late Edward and Helena Carey. He got his GED through Mexico High School in 1985. He married the love of his life Ellen on July 24, 1965 and together they celebrated 46 years of marriage. In the late 90’s he opened his BC Diner. His favorite past time was hunting and fishing. He was a member of the local Eagles club and started their cribbage tournaments and organized their veterans luncheon each year. Butch also was a member of the Lions club, King Hiram Lodge of Masons and the American Legion.
Surviving are his two children, Edward L. Carey, Jr. and wife Kathy of Rumford, and Erwin K. Carey and wife Jessica of Limerick; five sisters, Donna Breau of Livermore, Marcia Mitchell of Livermore, June Roy and husband Joe of Rumford, Penny Theriault and husband Ted of Shapleigh, Alice Blue and husband Perry of Colorado, and five grandchildren, Amanda Lyle , Zakeri Carey, Shelby Carey, Joshua Pettegrow, and Karissa Pettegrow, four great- grandchildren Ella Hume, Raegan Lyle, Jayla Pettegrow, Brooklyn Carey,
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Robert Carey, sisters Linda Brown, Rosie Carey Stanley.
At the family’s request, no flowers, donations in Butch’s memory may be made to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital and American Diabetes Association.
Visitation will be held Saturday November 13, starting at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Life at Thibault Remembrance Center 250 Penobscot St.
