AUBURN — Roy’s All Steak Hamburgers has bounced back and reopened Wednesday, after a car crashed into the building Sunday.
The popular Auburn restaurant closed its doors on 5 Washington St. N after the crash, citing significant structural damage.
But in a surprising turn of events, the eatery was able to repair the damage and serve customers once again.
“We opened up at six this morning,” said Lauren Roy, the restaurant’s manager. Contractors were called on Monday and brought in all the necessary tools and materials overnight, and by 4 p.m. Tuesday, the wall was rebuilt.
While the damage may have been repaired, a scar remains. “The wall is bare, but it’s safe,” said Roy. “We’re waiting on wallpaper, but it’s there.”
Sandra Kamuhinda, 20, of Falmouth was driving the Jeep Grand Cherokee that hit the building and was charged with operating under the influence, according to Deputy Chief Tim Cougle of the Auburn Police Department.
Roy’s will resume its normal hours of operation.
