RUMFORD — The maternity ward at Rumford Hospital received two baby layettes Friday morning from Doris Bourret, a member of the hospital’s Caring Stitchers group and a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Barbara Belanger, longtime president of the hospital auxiliary, said the Daughters of Isabella did this for the last New Year’s baby from the hospital and “they had so much fun that they wanted to make them this year for a Christmas baby and a New Year’s baby” born at the hospital.

Bourret, a 15-year-member of the Daughters of Isabella, said the 60-member group began working on the layettes in November. The group also made a bundle that included baby blankets, diapers, booties, socks, shampoo and a baby book.
