50 Years Ago: 1971
(from a Journal photo) The Lewiston Exchange club hosted a group of Bates College debaters at its meeting at the Steckino Restaurant Tuesday where they presented their views on the role of intercollegiate athletes on the college campus today. The debaters included David Dysenchuk, quarterback at Bates, John Troy, Jack Rule, Philip Ineerman and Larry Wood, seen chatting with Exchange President Fern Landry, and Dr. Thomas F. Moser, director of debate at the school who was the moderator.
25 Years Ago: 1996
Lost Valley ski area will host the fourth annual “Business After Hours” gathering of the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Auburn Business Association at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Lost Valley department heads will display a variety of equipment and provide information on programs offered there during the winter season. The ski area now has snowmaking guns and weather permitting there will be a demonstration of the area’s snowmaking capabilities. In addition to the equipment displays and demonstrations there will be a paintball arcade.
