WALES – Henry R. Ireland, 71, of 27 Centre Road, Wales, passed away at his home unexpectedly on December 26, 2021. Born in Lewiston on April 4, 1950, he was the son of Herbert F. and Shirley Rose Ireland. Educated in Auburn schools, he was a graduate of Edward Little High School, Class of ‘69. Straight out of high school Henry went to work in the EI department of the phone company, retiring from Verizon in 2003. He then spent 10 years working in the electrical department of Home Depot. On May 31, 1975, he married the love of his life, the former Linda Hodgman. An avid outdoorsman, Henry served on the board of the Monmouth Fish & Game Club, and, an Eagle Scout himself, was an assistant scout leader when his sons were in scouting. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading, and was also a talented woodworker, making several pieces of furniture. He was proud of his family, and whenever his boys needed anything he was always right there to help. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Linda of Wales, three sons, Thomas and wife Chris of Seattle, WA, Daniel of Lewiston, James and wife Alyssa of Auburn, and the apple of his eye, his three year old granddaughter Amelia Mae. Also surviving is his mother, Shirley Damon of Florida, a brother, Dana Ireland of Florida, sister-in-law Laurie Hodgman of Lewiston, brother-in-law Brian Hodgman and wife Anne of Fayette, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert, his grandmother, Delia Ruth Rose, and his in-laws, Clifford and Frances Hodgman. Services will be private, followed by interment at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn.
