NORWAY — Norway Savings Bank has given the Western Foothills Land Trust a $15,000 grant, payable over three years, to help purchase a state-of-the art Pisten Bully snow groomer for the Roberts Farm Preserve.
The trust has signed a lease-to-own arrangement with Kassaboher of Auburn. With its tiller capacity and ability to gather snow onto the trails, the machine enables the trust to turn hard-packed, icy snow into soft, skiable terrain.
The trust is actively fundraising to help cover the cost of purchasing the equipment and creating a maintenance fund. The Oxford Hills Nordic Ski community has raised $35,000 to cover the first year of the four-year lease agreement.
The Roberts Farm Preserve has more than 25 kilometers of ski trails along Pennesseewassee Lake and is working on a multiyear project linking ski trails to downtown Norway.
