
Snowfall rates of an inch per hour are possible late Thursday through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain showers start Thursday with precipitation changing from rain to snow in the evening. Heavy, wet snow accumulations of 12 to 16 inches are possible. It will be mostly snow in mountains.
A significant amount of sleet could accumulate during the transition, especially in southern areas of the state. A period of freezing rain is expected over the south.
Travel could be very difficult to impossible, according to the NWS. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening commute as well as the morning and evening commutes Friday.
