James E. Sutton

LEWISTON – James E. Sutton, 74, a resident of Lewiston, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, just 83 days after his wife, Lucille.

He was born in Lewiston on May 10, 1947, the son of Emilio and Agathe (Berube) Sutton. He graduated from Lewiston High School. He was employed in retail servicing Zayers and Woolworths stores throughout Maine, Maine Microfilm, and was owner of Cotes Ice Cream. He served as manager to many Sportshoe Center and Olympia Shoe stores until his retirement.

James was proud to have served his country with the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He lived a life of service. He served his family, friends, church and community throughout his lifetime. He was a very devoted member of Rev. Louis J. Fortier, Council 106, a Past Grand Knight 1991-93, and presently Financial Secretary, he is also a member of Msgr. T. H. Wallace Assembly 338 as a Trustee. James loved watching the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins, but most of all, he loved watching his grandchildren play their many sports.

Survivors include his daughter Tricia Sutton Walsh of Berlin, N.H.; two grandchildren, Mickailey and Jamison Walsh. Brother-in-laws, Jean Provost and wife Cecile and Raymond Duval and companion Deb Booker and many nieces, nephews. Being an only child, he leaves behind several cousins and dear friends that he loved like siblings.

He was pre-deceased by his parents and loving wife of 50 years, Lucille.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Jim’s life will be celebrated 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 7, at Holy Cross Church. Committal prayers with military honors to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to visit Sunday Febraury 6th from 3-5 p.m., only at Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
