Paul David Rea III

AUBURN – Paul David Rea III, 57, of Auburn, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

Born June 21, 1964 in Albany, Ore., the son of Paul David Jr. and Gail (Hartford) Rea. After graduating from Edward Little High School, and then from Andover College with a Computer Science degree, David embarked on a life-long career working with computers, most recently, as an IT professional with the State of Maine, DOT. In his professional life, he was known as Paul, to his family and close circle, he was called David.

On April 1, 2000, David married the love of his life, Mary (Raymond-King), and they began an amazing adventure, working together in church, woodworking, cooking, making greeting cards and spending time with their family. Along the way, he owned and operated his own wood-turning business, Rea Woodwrights, creating a myriad of keepsakes that will always be cherished.

David was very active in service for his Lord Jesus Christ at the First United Pentecostal Church in Lewiston, operating the multimedia equipment and keeping the family of God connected through livestream since the start of the Covid Pandemic. He would always take time to talk to anyone who needed his time and attention.

He had many passions in life, hosting family events, grilling, and woodworking. He enjoyed taking his ’82 Honda 750 on any ride he could, and especially looked forward to the yearly Men’s Bike Ride, BUT his greatest joy was spending time with his granddaughters who called him Grand Pappa.

He is survived by and is greatly missed by his wife, Mary; his parents Paul and Gail; two sons, David Rea and his wife Sasha, and Nathan King; two grandchildren, Emilina and Izzabella; a sister, Lizabeth Dickey and her husband Raymond, a brother, Herbert Rea and his wife Tina; and uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for David on Feb. 12, at 11 a.m., at the First United Pentecostal Church, 715 College St. in Lewiston.
