OXFORD — Oxbow Brewing Company and Protect Our Winters (POW), a nonprofit based in Boulder, CO are excited to announce a fun winter event for the whole family, “Find It For Climate,” to be held at the Oxbow Beer Garden in Oxford, on Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
It features a scavenger hunt on the cross country ski trails at the Oxbow property, where participants will earn raffle tickets for every “POW Point” they find on the trails. Whether on skis or snowshoes, it promises to be a fun adventure with some exciting prizes up for grabs from the event sponsors: Yeti, Ragged Mountain Equipment, Carter’s XC Ski, GrandyOrganics, NEMO, REI, Burgeon Outdoor, Patagonia, and more.
There will also be music, a vendor village, ice carving demos, and of course, all the fantastic beer and pizza that Oxbow is known for. All proceeds from ticket and raffle sales will be donated to POW, and the first 100 entries will receive a “POW Pack” of goodies from sponsors including a custom Yeti mug, GrandyOrganics granola and more. Tickets are $10 per person, available at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/ oxbow-and-protect-our-winters- find-it-for-climate-tickets- 253467306537.
POW was founded by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones, to engage the outdoors community in advocating for climate-friendly policies at the local and national levels. POW’s mission is to help passionate outdoors people protect the places they live and love from climate change, advocating for non-partisan policies in support of renewable energy, protecting public lands, electrifying transportation, and putting a price on carbon.
“We’re creating this event to support Protect Our Winters, because climate change is affecting all of us who love to play in the snow here in Maine, and all over the world,” said Tim Adams, owner of Oxbow Brewing Company.
“Whether you’re a downhill, cross country or backcountry skier, or a snowshoer or snowmobiler, shorter, warmer winters mean less time on the trails. POW helps raise awareness of what policies we can support to help keep our Maine winters white.” More information is available at www.protectourwinters.org.
