Gerard “Buster” Wilfred Obie
LEWISTON – Gerard “Buster” Wilfred Obie, 83, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2022, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston Maine.Buster was born June 15, 1938 in Auburn the son of Roland and Melvina (DeRosay) Obie.Buster married the love of his life Lorraine Anna Caron June 27, 1959 at St. Louis Church in Auburn.He worked as a baker all his life and fulfilled his lifelong dream of owning and operating his own bakery, Georgio’s Bakery on Minot Avenue in Auburn, Maine until his retirement in 1998.After a brief retirement he then worked part time as a courier until the age of 75. His passion was his baking and he donated to many food banks in the local area. Buster loved his time off and would always focus on spending time with family and taking Lorraine out on Saturday night for dinner and dancing. During his retirement years he thoroughly enjoyed playing pinball on his computer (making sure the sound was turned way up) and a daily ritual of watching The Price is Right, Judge Judy and Wheel of Fortune. He enjoyed the simple things in life such as being around family, playing skeet ball with his grandchildren at Old Orchard Beach and good food. He is survived by his supportive, loving wife Lorraine Obie; three children, Paul Obie and wife Rhonda, Dianne Wallace and husband Dwight “Ike”, and Monita Obie; six grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Nicholas Obie, Heather Precopio and her fiancé Joe Moriarty, Jennifer Marro, and Rachel Ortiz.; four great-grandchildren, Brook, Patrick, Carl, and Dominic; surviving sisters, Rita Raymond, Betty Dallaire, Linda Agren and her husband Don. Along with many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all that loved him including his furry friend Anna the cat.Gerard was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Melvina Obie, as well as his brothers-in-law, George Raymond and Normand Dallaire.Visitations will be held at The Fortin Group 217 Turner Street Auburn, Maine on Monday, Feb. 14, 2022, from 2-4 p.m., with a 3:30 p.m. prayer service and additional visitations from 5-7 p.m.In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society at http://www.gahumane.org/
