The Twin City Branch sewed all day Wednesday, February 8, at the C.M.G. Hospital. Nine members were present and at the business session they voted to give $5.00 to the C.M.G. Charity Fund; also to assist a woman to have cataracts removed later.
50 Years Ago: 1972
Stephen A. Marsden of Auburn was named executive director of the TriCounty Health Planning Agency at its monthly board of directors meeting, it was announced Friday. Marsden, who previously served as the agency’s Assistant Director, replaces Richard H. Cooper, who recently resigned to accept re-employment with the The Androscoggin Home Health Services agency as its executive director. Mrs. Donald W. Webber, AHHS president, announced Cooper’s reappointment saying AHHS board of directors is “most pleased” to once again have Cooper at the ‘helm of the agency. ”During his previous service,” ‘she continued, “the AHHS developed from a one-nurse agency to a regional program offering home nursing, physical therapy. speech therapy. health aide and homemaker services to a large portion of the Androscoggin, Franklin Oxford County area. We are confident that under his leadership our organization will continue to refine and develop its program and that it will make significant progress toward our goal of providing comprehensive health care.”
25 Years Ago: 1997
Students and faculty of St. Dominic Regional High School selected Nicholas Robitaille and Robyn Adair as king and queen of the school’s 1997 Winter Carnival. They were crowned at the Winter Carnival dance on Feb. 7. Nicholas is the son of Bert and Diane Robitaille of Lisbon, and Robyn is the daughter of W. Scott and Roberta Adair of Auburn. Runners-up were Stephanie Roop, daughter of Stephen Roop and Sandra Lizotte, and John Boulanger, son of Paul and Marie Boulanger. Spirit Week and Winter Carnival activities were held all last week at the school.
