100 Years Ago: 1922
The second annual Consumers Opportunity Sales Week opened Monday with a rush. Many out of town people were noticed shopping on the streets. It is expected that Lewiston will be the’ center of large crowds of out of town people all this week. Monday was Opening Sales Day and a great variety of bargains were offered by Lewiston Merchants. Today is Surprise Day and each store will feature Surprise bargains specials.
50 Years Ago: 1972
A morning musical program for children is being planned at the Auburn United Methodist Church for Friday. Miss Sandra Simpson is in charge of the program called “Creating with Sound.” Grades One to Three from 9:30 to 10:30 and for children of Grades Four, Five and Six from 10:30 to 11:30. Mrs. Ira Rosen and Mrs. Roger Doran will work on art projects with the three older grades at 9:30 and with those in the lower grades from 10:30.
25 Years Ago: 1997
Side by Side, a musical duo of Lorrie Ferrari and Tony Scucci will perform Friday at 7 pm at the Rumford Methodist Church at 198 Linnell Street. The two play a blend of old standards and contemporary numbers. Soft drinks, coffee, teas, and desserts will be for sale and there will be open mike time.
