NORWAY — On Wednesday, March 2, at 5 p.m., Rev. Sara Bartlett will welcome friends, neighbors, members, visitors, young and old, to receive imposition of ashes at a drive-through event at the Second Congregational Church, UCC, 205 Main Street, Norway, Maine.
Ash Wednesday and the imposition of ashes is a day for those who follow the footsteps of Christ to remember that we are part of something larger than ourselves, for all human bodies were created from the same ground, the same earth, the same creation. It is also the start of our Lenten journey, a season for reflection, repentance, and intentional prayer. Ash Wednesday begins a time when we are all invited to move through 40 days, arriving on Easter morning, and gifted with the reminder that love is greater than death.
Every Wednesday evening through Lent, the Second Congregational Church is also offering a weekly (ZOOM) Lenten book study, Lent in Plain Sight written by Jill Duffield. One does not need to be a member to participate, and our theology lifts up that all human beings have the right to be their true selves.
