Constance “Connie” Irene (Jones) Dudzic

LITCHFIELD, Conn. – Constance “Connie” Irene (Jones) Dudzic, 89, wife of the late Lawrence J. Dudzic, passed away on March 1, 2022 in Litchfield, Conn., where she had been a resident for the last three years. Connie was born in Lewiston on Oct. 5, 1932, the daughter of the late Hector F. and Dora (Provencher) Jones. Before moving to Lewiston with her family as a young girl, she attended a one-room school house in Gray with her three brothers.

She was a graduate of Lewiston High School and earned her nursing degree at St Mary’s General Hospital School of Nursing. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Arts from Saint Joseph’s College in 1976.

Connie held many positions in public health, including with the American TB Association and as the Auburn Public Health Nurse for many years. She spearheaded many vaccine clinics in area schools for polio and measles. She also taught Certified Nurses’ Aides courses throughout the area. When she retired, she often worked as a private duty nurse in several homes.

Connie enjoyed quilting, reading and going to the theater, as well as the company of her many friends and family. She and Larry were married for over 60 years and spent many winters in Barefoot Bay, Fla. and Marsh Harbor, Bahamas.

Connie is survived by her nieces Susan Vontell (Michael Kovalchik) of Morris, Conn. and Rachel Flagg (Bill) of Londonderry, N.H. and her nephew, James Jones (Elaine) of Cromwell, Conn.; as well as grand nieces and nephews Benjamin, Jordyn, Ryan, Billy and Gabrielle.

She was predeceased by her brothers George, Lionel and Paul.

A Liturgy of the Word service will take place at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19, at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.
