Gowell’s Shop’n Save in Greene is adding 5,000 square feet to its existing grocery store. Store manager Tom Couture said when the new addition is complete in October, the store will grow to about 25,000 square feet. Couture said that the store gained a lot of new customers when the COVID-19 pandemic caused people to search out smaller stores. Once the pandemic slowed down, the customers stayed. “We kept a lot of customers that we did not have previously,” said Couture. “People tell me that we are the store with a personality.” Couture said another yet to be named business will also be located within the new addition.
